Thank you!

We are still buzzing with excitement and gratitude after our big Plant Fundraiser Weekend held from April 10–12, 2026. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we successfully raised $5,000 to support the library and educational programs at Instituto Fermín Mayorga (IFM). We are now well on our way toward our 2026 goal of $7,000 to get the library built!

A Night in Honduras on Nash Drive

The festivities kicked off on Friday night with our Plant Party at the beautiful home of Amedeo Rosa on Nash Drive. It was a fun evening filled with friends, music, laughter, plants and a bar and food menu inspired by the vibrant flavors of Honduras. The Friends of IFM board wants to extend a big gracias to our host, Amedeo Rosa, to our fantastic bartenders, Finley Lee and Alex Boyer, to our teen event volunteers (pictured below), and to Siobhan O’Neal and Liza Coontz for their generous donations of dozens of plants for the weekend sale.

The party alone raised over $2,500 for the library project. It was truly heartening to see so many friends—old and new—coming together for such a vital cause.

Raffle Highlights and Winners

Guests were eager to see who would take home the prizes during Friday’s raffle. With over $1,500 worth of prizes up for grabs, the competition was friendly but fierce! We were happy to send 20 lucky guests home with some amazing items.

A special thank you goes out to our generous sponsors and raffle donors. We could not have offered such an incredible lineup of prizes without your continued support.

Plants, Plants, and More Plants!

The momentum continued into the weekend with our Saturday and Sunday plant sales. On Saturday, we gathered at the Boyer home on Pebblebrook Drive, where the community turned out in droves to pick up greenery for their spring gardens.

We wrapped up the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Exploris Elementary School on Swain Street. From hardy house plants to fresh veggies and bright flowers, the variety was stunning. Seeing neighbors walk away with arms full of plants, knowing each purchase directly funds books and resources for the IFM library, was the perfect conclusion to our fundraiser.

With Gratitude

Whether you donated at the door, bought a raffle ticket, or picked out a new favorite heirloom tomato at the sale, you played a part in this success. We also want to extend a special thank you to those who sent in direct donations throughout the weekend; your contributions were the final push we needed to hit that incredible $5,000 milestone. Every dollar brings us closer to finishing the library at Instituto Fermín Mayorga and providing a dedicated space for learning and growth.

Thank you for coming together for this great cause. We can’t wait to see the library doors open!
