We hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful summer! We have a few exciting updates on our mission to expand the library and create a technology hub at the Instituto Fermín Mayorga (IFM) in El Corpus, Honduras.
First, a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported our spring plant sales! We successfully raised $1,000 through your incredible generosity. Not only did we sell a lot of plants, but we also had the opportunity to share the story of the Friends of IFM with many new people.
Your Impact Just Got Bigger: The $5,000 Matching Challenge!
Get ready to make an even greater impact! We’re thrilled to announce that for the next few months, all donations up to a total of $5,000 will be MATCHED! This incredible opportunity means that every dollar you donate will be doubled, helping us to jumpstart our fundraising and reach our first goal of $10,000. If we can hit that $10k mark, we’ll be able to break ground on the library expansion!
Our total fundraising goal is $20,000, and we’ve already raised about $5,300 since we started. This matching challenge is a huge step toward reaching our ultimate goal and making a lasting difference for the students of IFM.

Exciting Progress on the Ground
We’ve been busy behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share some more concrete progress:
- New Computers are Arriving! Three all-in-one Dell computers have been purchased, and we’re delighted to report that two of them have already made it down to the existing library at IFM. The third is pending shipment and will be there soon. The students are excited, and it’s easy to see why – for most of them, this is their first experience with a late-model computer! This is a huge step toward creating a modern technology hub.
- Students Leading the Way! The school has started a Friends of the Library club, and these motivated students are already spearheading their own fundraising efforts! They’re planning a race and even collecting spare change in cans to contribute to the cause. It’s inspiring to see their dedication and ownership of this project.
- Enthusiasm from School Staff: The staff at IFM are getting increasingly optimistic about the opportunities the additional space will bring. They’re actively planning how the expanded physical library and the future virtual library resources can be used to benefit both the weekday, traditional students and the weekend adult students who are diligently working to complete their diplomas. This expansion will truly serve the entire school community.
