We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new website! This online home for Friends of Instituto Fermín Mayorga will be a place to share stories, updates, and ways you can join us in building bridges of learning for the students of Instituto Fermín Mayorga in Honduras. Here, you’ll find details about our mission, the inspiring story of our organization’s founding, and, importantly, how you can be a part of our journey.
As we shared in our previous post, our immediate goal is to raise funds to create a “virtual library” – a much-needed computer lab and expanded library space at Instituto Fermín Mayorga. And we’re excited to announce our first fundraising event: a plant sale!
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 6th, from 12-4 pm at 920 Pebblebrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609. Join us for a blooming good time as we raise funds for this important project. We’ll have a wide variety of plants available, including:
- Succulents and other popular houseplants like monsteras, spider plants, and philodendrons.
- Herb and vegetable seedlings, perfect for your spring planting (think tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and more!).
- Beautifully divided plants from the (admittedly neglected!) garden, including lilies and other surprises.
- Contributions from friends and supporters – you never know what treasures you might find!
And that’s not all! We’ll also have refreshing lemonade, delicious baked goods, and local honey available for purchase.
Plants will be available at various donation price points, starting as low as $3 each or 2 for $5. All proceeds will directly benefit the library expansion project.
We’ll have a donation table set up, and we can accept donations via PayPal (details on the website!). We’re also working on setting up Venmo, so stay tuned for updates on that.
We can’t wait to see you there, surrounded by plants and the spirit of community, as we work together to build bridges of learning for the students of Instituto Fermín Mayorga!
